1) What is Horizon Polymers,
LLC? Horizon Polymers, LLC is a company whose main focus is
to assist U.S. manufacturers in dealing with the growing
threat of overseas imports. We accomplish this by formulating
and implementing an "Action Plan" which could entail some or
all of the following: identifying suitable overseas
manufacturers, ordering goods from those manufacturers,
facilitating those orders, and/or locating suitable investment
partners or manufacturing sites in which to establish a
facility.
2) Why should I consider overseas
alternatives to : resin? finished goods? manufacturing? It
is simply another option on your sourcing menu. Also, with the
extremely competitive nature of products coming from Asia
today, some U.S. manufacturers are discovering that they are
able to compete more effectively. Furthermore, Asian sourced
products provide some companies with an entry strategy to
markets they might not have considered entering before, due to
prohibitive domestic costs.
3) How do I get my
company/business into the Asian market? Well there are many
options to get your company into the Asian market. At Horizon
Polymers, we are looking to make it as easy as possible. In
the initial phases of discussion we will ascertain your
companies' "comfort level" in terms of direct involvement with
the overseas markets. From there, we will formulate an "Action
Plan" which will take your company from no or limited
involvement to as direct as possible involvement. The hard
part is deciding to make the move to overseas sourcing. The
easy part is contacting us.
4) Working with Horizon
Polymers, will I know who I am actually sourcing
from? Absolutely, yes! Our main focus is to facilitate your
company's direct contact with the various overseas
suppliers/manufacturers that would complement/supplement your
own production.
5) How do I place an order for overseas
goods? First, we determine which product is suitable for
overseas production. Second, we decide what are the
specifications required and match that up to a suitable
overseas manufacturer. Third, we assist you in placing the
order directly with a manufacturer of your choosing. Horizon
Polymers will, of course, help you make your decision on the
manufacturers that are most capable of matching your product
specification and quality.
6) Can I see samples prior
to purchasing? Yes, in fact we would encourage sampling as
a means of qualifying the overseas manufacturer. We would have
all samples sent directly to you to eliminate any extra
handling time.
7) What are typical order lead
times? Typical order lead times are 6 to 8 weeks. This is
the time from order confirmation to delivery to the U.S. port
destinations. This time can be reduced by ordering
pre-qualified items as well as scheduling out your
orders.
8) Will Horizon Polymers assist me in bringing
the product in? Yes, for those companies that require
logistical assistance, we can provide assistance on ensuring
that: a) the goods are delivered to their final destination,
b) the movement from origin to destination is done in a timely
manner and c) all documents are prepared and handled
properly.
9) How am I expected to pay for goods ordered
from overseas? The universally accepted payment method for
an international transaction is by Letter of Credit (L/C). The
buying company (L/C opener) will open an L/C to the supplier
(beneficiary). This transaction is handled by both the L/C
opener's bank and the beneficiary's bank. Since all the
documents are handled by the banks, this method of payment is
secure for both sides. Upon establishing an ongoing
relationship with the supplier, other payment methods might be
considered (i.e. telegraphic transfer or T/T payment).
10) How are quality issues handled? Since most
orders are preapproved and prequalified, we expect little in
terms of quality issues. However, in the event of a quality
problem, the manufacturers that Horizon Polymers work with,
stand behind their products 100%. In fact, most of the
manufacturers have ISO certifications!
11) How are
proprietary issues handled? Horizon Polymers will
facilitate all discussions on proprietary issues and ensure
that all parties involved are comfortable moving forward under
a "non-disclosure agreement". The company that is looking at
moving proprietary technology or equipment should have their
legal representatives draft a non-disclosure agreement for
review by both Horizon Polymers and the overseas
supplier/manufacturer.
12) How does Horizon Polymers
get paid? Horizon Polymers gets paid in basically two ways:
a) Commission fees - paid by the overseas supplier for
goods purchased from U.S. companies. b) Consulting fees -
which vary depending upon the scope and depth of the project.
13) Can Horizon Polymers arrange for me to visit
factory/manufacturing sites in Asia? Not only can we can
arrange for factory/manufacturing visits, but we can plan and
layout your complete itinerary while you are in Asia.
Generally, a Horizon Polymers representative will accompany
you on your trip to serve as translator and liason. The length
and extent of the trip would determine the overall
fee.
